What are Moqui Marbles?
These sandstones, formed over millions of years from water, minerals, pressure, and time, with an iron-rich outer layer, come from the region that is now Utah in the southwestern United States. They are unique stones because they occur as naturally paired sets. They are interconnected and complement each other in their qualities, which is why the local Indigenous peoples refer to them as Grandmother and Grandfather stones. Here, they are known as Moqui Marbles or shaman stones. The more feminine, receptive stone often has a smoother surface, while the masculine, giving stone usually has a rougher texture.

The Moqui pair harmonizes our masculine Yin and feminine Yang aspects, thereby balancing activity and receptivity, doing and being, giving and receiving, intuition and action.
The Hopi have been using these stones for centuries to promote grounding, alignment between heaven and earth, stability, centering, and energetic balance.
They can be particularly helpful in times of restlessness, nervousness, stress, and sensory overload, and can strengthen us during times of change. This makes them ideal stones for highly sensitive people and others who sometimes feel out of touch with themselves or tend to get easily distracted.
How to Use Your Moqui Pair
After spiritual experiences such as shamanic journeys, intense meditation, trauma work, rituals, or Reiki treatments, they help you return fully to your body and integrate and ground the experiences you’ve had.
Since they are meant to be used as a pair, they should be purchased as such, stored together, and always used together. When using them, hold one stone in each hand. Breathe consciously and feel how both energies come into a harmonious flow. It’s a good idea to drink a glass of water after the session.
Care
Due to their chemical composition, they are highly water-soluble and prone to rust. Therefore, they must never be cleaned with water or stored in damp conditions, as the sandstone inside could swell and the iron casing could crack or oxidize.
For energetic cleansing after use, energetic smudging or vibrational cleansing with sound is recommended. The stones can also be gently discharged on selenite or hematite mini-stones.
Due to their very lively nature in contrast to classic crystals it’s important to note that Moqui Marbles do not like darkness. They should be charged near a window with indirect daylight and good air circulation. Direct midday sun should be avoided to prevent extreme temperature fluctuations within the stones.
As relationship stones that reflect the owner’s life energy, they can be activated after discharging by holding them and gently rubbing them. The natural oils from the skin also provide them with a natural protective film against humidity.
