Essential oils support and complement the energetic work in the best possible way: During or after treatments, they can be used to open, cleanse, refresh or stabilise the energy system, depending on your needs.
Which essential oils help for what and what you need to bear in mind:
What are essential oils and how do they work?
Essential oils are chemical substances produced by plants for their protection and reproduction, either in leaves, flowers, fruit peels, branches, roots, seeds and stems. Highly concentrated and very complex, they have long been used for their excellent properties to naturally restore the balance of our body and energy system, as they act both physiologically and emotionally, easily penetrate our cell membranes and dissolve well in the lipids of our body. This happens very quickly: absorbed through the skin, they are in the bloodstream within two minutes and in every single cell of the body within 20 minutes. Inhaled, they reach the brain and thus our emotional system within 17 seconds! They can be integrated into our everyday lives in various ways: As a preventive agent, complementary therapy and in health and beauty care products. However, we encounter them most frequently in fragrance lamps, baths, the sauna or when cooking and baking.
Keep your eyes open when buying!
It is worth investing in quality, as cheaper essential oils are often designed for fragrance lamps and can irritate the skin when applied. It is worth asking when buying, as some oils are not suitable for pregnancy, high blood pressure, epilepsy and allergies. Citrus oils can have an irritating effect in the blazing sun, so it is best to only use them in the evening in summer.
What is sold under the word ‘essence’ are pure fragrances and not essential oils, so they do not have the desired effect.
However, the most common mistake when using essential oils is overdosing. As they are highly concentrated, dilution with a carrier such as almond, coconut or jojoba oil is recommended when applying them to the skin. If you are sensitive, you should only bring tea tree and lavender oil into contact with the skin and only use the other oils as room fragrances. As far as the use of essential oils is concerned, opinions differ. Personally, I do not use them at all and recommend only doing so in consultation with a qualified aromatherapist to avoid overdosing or putting excessive strain on the kidneys.
Using essential oils safely
For spontaneous one-off use of an essential oil, I recommend putting 1-2 drops on a handkerchief, inhaling it or running it through the aura.
If the same oil or the mixture is used over a longer period of time, I recommend using a small glass roll-on for the pulse area, temple and/or sole of the foot: put 2-5 drops of essential oil in it and top up the rest with jojoba oil. To be on the safe side, a tolerance test should be carried out in the hollow of the arm at the start of use.
